Tonight’s TOP NBA Value Plays                                    4/27/2015

Nick Calathes – PG – Memphis

Conley is DONE for the season/ playoffs.  Beno Udrih is listed as next in line to start tonight against Portland.  But the starter is NOT always the way to go in these situations (See JJ Barea’s last game).  The minutes might be split right down the middle OR Udrih could get sidelined because of his bum ankle.  Either way, I think Calathes will outperform him tonight, and I think more people will be on Udrih than Calathes, making him a nice play that could put you above the rest.   On Saturday night, Nick had 13 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 2 three-pointers in 26 minutes, not bad for bare minimum salary tonight.  It’s also interesting to note, the final game of the regular season when he saw 31 minutes of action he did :8 Pts, 6 Assists, 6 Rebounds, and 4 steals against The Pacers.  Put him in, and cross your fingers that Udrih hits the floor (That sounds terrible, but business is business, sorry)

Courtney Lee – SG – Memphis

Courtney Lee is the only option if you’re not playing Butler and Middleton tonight.  He is half price of these guys (3 times less than Jimmy B).  Lee could almost replicate Middleton tonight, probably not, but might come close.  Butler will easily out perform him, but if Lee puts up a 25, I’m saying Butler isn’t putting up a 75.  Lee put up a 30 last game, and with Conley done, Lee will be forced to shoot the rock tonight.  Because of our AMAZING multiple multiple Flex positions, you can put both Lee and Butler in your lineups tonight (You’re welcome).  Lee’s line tonight: 33 minutes , 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal.

Antetokounmpo– SF –Milwaukee

It’s do or die time, it’s time to roll the dice.  Which Greek Freak shows tonight?  The Fantasy ALL STAR STUD, or the guy who Kidd benches because of foul trouble or bone-head plays??  I like this kid, and when he’s on, and things are going right, he is a STAT MACHINE.  He is the guy that is going to destroy your chances of finishing in the $$ tonight, or vault you ahead of the guys without the testicular fortitude to go for the glory.  NBA DFS is almost over, tonight is one of the final nights to make a play.  I am going to put it on the table and say “Tonight’s winner in all GPP formats will have The Greek Freak included in it”  He has taken me to glory this year, and has also made me throw my cat at my flat screen.  Do it………………….do it.

TOP MLB VALUE PLAYS                                              4/27/15

Alberto Callaspo – 2B- Atlanta           $3,700

The Braves will Face Doug Fister tonight in Atlanta.  I got a chance to watch Fister in his last game, and he doesn’t look right to me, he was off and was not himself.  Traditionally, Fister has OWNED the Braves, but I’m not trusting his stuff right now.  There is a potential he gets banged up tonight and if you want to be on someone who almost nobody else will be, I think Callaspo is a nice very sneaky play.  He is 6/17 (.353), 1 HR, 1 walk, and only one K against Fister lifetime.  If Fister gets rocked, I think Callaspo will be part of the attack, not a safe play, but very contrarian, and at such a low price worth the risk if you are a gambler.

Jimmy Paredes – 3B – Orioles              $3,500

This price is silly.  Jimmy P is questionably the hottest hitter in baseball, the dude is raking.  .429 3Hrs, 9 runs, and 9 RBI’s on the season.  He is hitting .533 at home (DISGUSTING!!) and is also hitting .422 with the 3 HRs Versus Righties.   He gets Noesi tonight who has STUNK against Baltimore in his career.  I don’t know what else to say, he is HALF THE PRICE of the top Outfielders in the game.  Get him on your team now before his price jumps to 5K in the next few days.

Ichiro Suzuki – OF – Marlins                 $2,700

The old man still finds a way to produce.  Suzuki has taken the place of Yelich since he hit the DL last week with a back issue.  Ichiro is on a six game hitting streak with half of those games being 2 hit performances.  Miami always plays well at home, and can produce runs.  Miami will face Dillion “Gee I’m not Good” and could be looking at a whoopin’ tonight.  For $2,700 you really can’t go wrong, If you’re going with Price or Shields tonight, the old man could give you the salary relief you are searching for

TONIGHT’S MLB VALUE PICKS                   4/17/15

Angel Pagan- OF Giants - $5,000

5K isn’t a huge VALUE PLAY, but I have to roll with him tonight as a good safe play.  The Giants will face Josh Collmenter tonight who is a less than mediocre Starting pitcher.  The Giants have a good track record against Collmenter, and so does Angel.  Lifetime pagan is 7 for 12 (.583) with 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs.   Pagan also is on fire, he has 8 hits in his past 3 games (I like pairing him up with Posey tonight for a 1-2 combo that could be monster)

Jon Jay – OF Cardinals - $3,400

St Louis faces Johnny Cueto tonight.  Usually, Im in love with Cueto in daily formats EXCEPT when he faces The Cards.  Cueto has 110 innings under his belt against them and his numbers SUCK: 110 innings, 49 ER, 35 Walks, whip 1.3, and only 62 K’s.  Those are not John Cueto numbers, those are the numbers of a #5 pitcher, not an ace.  Time to look at the Batter vs Pitcher, and one name stands out JON JAY.  Jay is 12/27 with 3 HRS, 7 RBI's, ’nd has strangely enough been HBP 3 times in less than 30 AB’s.  These guys hate eachother.  Jay is cheap, the numbers are there, I gotta run with the value.

Zack Cozart – SS Reds - $3,100

$3,100 is almost minimum salary, if I can get someone that cheap, and have some faith in their upcoming performance, I have to play it.  Cozart gets Wacha tonight and is 6/14 with .643 Slugging against him.  Cozart isn’t going to go 4-4 with 5 RBIs, but if he can go 2-4 with a double(possible), he returned his value at $3,100.  If you are rolling with Kershaw or Scherzer, these are the types of players you need to plug in to make your lineup work

Tonight’s MLB Value Picks              4/10/15

Ben Revere- OF Phillies -$4,500

Ben Revere will go against Gio Gonzalez tonight in Philly.  The name Gio Gonzalez doesn’t scare me like it did 2 or 3 years ago, he is still solid, but will never live up to the potential “Ace” status that we pegged him for not that long ago.  He will get the win tonight because The Phillies are “God Awful”, but they will hit him a little bit.  Revere will leadoff tonight and is ALWAYS a threat to get a couple of stolen bases.  If he can get a hit or two, a SB, and a run, he will be a value at $4,500.   Revere is 8 for 19 lifetime against Gio………………..

Pablo Sandoval – 3B- Red Sox - $5,000

Being from Boston, I have a certain love for all Red Sox players, but especially fat, likeable ones. I wish Kruk wore a Red Sox Jersey at some point in his career.   I really want Sandoval to have a monster season and spend the next 5 years in our uniform.  I usually try not to put hometown guys in Value Plays articles, but I have to tonight.  For this simple fact:  Panda faces Nate Eovaldi tonight at Yankee Stadium, Panda’s batter VS pitcher line looks like this: .727 average, 3 doubles, 1 HR, 9 RBI’s.  I challenge anyone to find a better B VS P line than that.  If he goes 0-4, I can’t be mad at myself, I followed the rules, and went with the ridiculous numbers, in a HR ball park.

Drew Pomeranz – SP A’s - $5,800

Not a great collection of Sp’s tonight.  No big K players out there, so its time to save some $4 and find some value.  Time to go to the stat line:  Pomeranz VS Seattle, 11 innings, 9 K’s, 0.82 ERA, 0.45 WHIP, opponent Ba .128.  Oakland is a pitchers park, those numbers are outstanding, I’m going with it

NBA VALUE PICKS               4/10/15

Tyler Hansbrough- PF Raptors - $4,600

Amir Johnson will sit tonight as he nurses an ankle injury in preparation for the playoffs.  Tyler will get the start tonight against The Magic and will most likely face off against Dwayne Dedmon.  The Magic have been TERRIBLE against the power forward all year long, and its time to exploit it tonight.  I don’t think Lowrt will play either and his replacement, Vasquez, isn’t a real scoring machine.  The last two games Hansbrough has averaged a double-double with a few blocks and steals as well.  If he plays 35 minutes tonight (he SHOULD, but Toronto has been known to do ridiculous things), he should get you another double double at least.  Tyler is 1/4th the price of the stud PF’s tonight, but could produce somewhat similar numbers.  POSSIBLE HUGE VALUE

Ramon Sessions- PG Washington - $5,200

John Wall will rest tonight as well, giving Sessions another shot to put up numbers with big minutes in a good match-up.  Last game sessions started he did 19 pts, 7 assists, 2 rebounds and was 2/2 behind the Arc.  He will square off against Deron Williams/ Jarett Jack tonight, and neither of them are wonderful defenders.   Broklyn needs this game, and will play hard, but The Wizards don’t like losing under any circumstance.  Dare I say Sessions falls just short of the Triple-double tonight?????………………I do

Zaza Pachulia- C Bucks - $9,900

Milwaukee has the best matchup of the night, THE KNICKS.  I could put up numbers against The Knicks.  The Knicks need to change their logo to a huge block of Swiss Cheese.  The Knicks have been HORRIBLE against the Center the past week or two.  Zaza is getting consistant minutes and has been producing.  My only fear here is a blowout scenario(possible), and John Henson cuts into Zaza’s numbers in garbage time.  I hope the Knicks keep it within 15 and Zaza plays 30 minutes.  Last game VS New York, Big Z put up 11 pts, 14 rebounds and 5 assists.

Top MLB Value Picks                           4/8/2015

Asdrubal Cabrera SS -Tam pa- $4,800

Cabrera will bat in the 3 hole tonight against Miguel Gonzalez and The Baltimore Orioles.  Miguel HATES the Rays!!  He has TERRIBLE numbers when facing Tampa: 60 innings pitched, 11 HRs, 35 Walks, and an ERA North of 4.00.  Thats pretty awful.  I really like the heart of the order tonight for TB: Cabrera, Longoria, and Jennings, I have no issue putting all 3 in your lineups, but I think Asdrubal might give you the best return of value for his $4,800 price.  I’ m thinking, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 hits, maybe 1 SB.

Adam Lind 1st Base  Brewers- $4,200

I’m loving me some Lind tonight!!  Lind is batting in the 3 spot as well, and faces Eddie Butler tonight in Milwaukee.  Who is Eddie Butler you ask??? Eddie Butler is THAT guy who does not know how to get out a left-handed hitter.  OH !!  THAT EDDIE BUTLER !!!  The Brewers might get some revenge tonight after getting spanked by Colorado on opening day.  I like all 3 lefties in the lineup tonight: Lind, Parra, and Scooty-Scoot-scoot-Gennett.  Lind might get you Goldschmidt numbers at a HUGE discount.

Alejandro De Aza OF –Baltimore- $4,000

I love getting leadoff hitters in my lineups when possible.  De Aza will leadoff tonight against Odorizzi.  This game will probably have some runs scored and I always like the guy guaranteed to have the most at bats.  If De Aza gets on base, hopefully Jones or Davis can drive them home (Love Jones tonight too)  .  De Aza has only 2 at bats VS Odorizzi: 1 of those was a Home Run, very small sample size, really means nothing, but you never know……………….

TOP MLB VALUE PLAYS                                                                                        4/7/15

Jake Arrieta- SP CUBS- $8,400

Jake Arrieta shocked EVERYONE last year with an incredible 2014 campaign.  Those who say they saw it coming at that level are “Liars”.  He was possibly the top pitcher last year in comparison to where he was drafted in season long leagues last March.  I find it hard to believe that he could mimic last year’s numbers, but it’s possible.  I think his ERA will raise a bit, but his wins should too due to the improved Chicago Cub Offense.  Jake is also coming off a solid spring training, striking out 15 in 14 innings and keeping his ERA at 3.5.  Arrieta faces The Cardinals tonight.  Here is what He did last year against an almost identical starting lineup: 5 games, 29 innings pitched, 25 K’s, ERA.92, and WHIP of .95.  To say he OWNED St Louis, is an understatement.  It’s a little bit of a crap shoot when it comes to SP’s in April, it takes them some time to get in a groove, so anybody could blow up for the first couple of weeks, but I’m going with the guy that did some serious dominating last year.  If he can get 8K’s, and hold The Cards to 1 or 2 runs in 7 innings, I’ll be happy at this price.

Aaron Hill- 2B ARIZONA- $4,100

I’m not loving anyone at 2B tonight, so I will try to find some value at the position.  Like I said yesterday, this early in the season I use batter vs pitcher more than anything else.  The one guy who sticks out to me is Hill.  Hill faces Ryan Vogelsong tonight.  Hill has faced him 30 times in his career and has a ridiculous .467 against him.  14 hits in 30 Abs in CRAZY.  I have to put him in there and hope the trend continues at $4,100.  Voglesong can get rocked sometimes, and getting rocked in Arizona can be ugly.

Mike Zunino- C MARINERS- $3,900

I’m a complete sucker for young kids who can hit bombs, they might bat .205, but if they can crush it 470 feet, I’m buying their jersey.  That’s Zunino in a nutshell, boom or bust.  1 Home Run can make or break your lineup in DFS.   Big Z (that’s the name I’m giving him this season, you heard it here first), faces CJ Wilson tonight in Seattle.  Big Z has 10 at bats against CJ, and in that time he has 4 hits, 1 HR, 1 double, 4 RBI’s, 1 walk.  VERY SMALL sample size, but it’s how I predict in April.  I would be happy with 1 for 4 tonight with a moon shot.

OPENING DAY MLB PICKS

Francisco Liriano- SP PIRATES- $7,700

Liriano is coming off an incredible Spring Campaign, striking out 14 batters in 12 innings, yet only surrendering 1 earned run.  He will face possibly the worst or second worst (Braves) offense in The MLB in the The Reds.  Liriano has averaged a K per inning against The Reds, and that was against superior squads.  He is 5 or 6 thousand dollars CHEAPER than the top guys, but could have a double digit strikeout performance, if you are looking for a mid-price ranged guy to roll with today, I think he has your best chance to put up big fantasy points.

Evan Longoria- 3B Tampa Bay- $6,400

Longoria is still the one bright spot on The Rays for this year.  The lineup around him is terrible, but the guy can still produce.  When it comes to making predictions in the first few weeks of the MLB season, batter VS pitcher is the only real way to make your choices.  Longoria might have the best numbers for the day when it comes to facing his foe: .394, 5 HRs, 1 SB in 33 apperances against Chris Tillman.  I’ll take those numbers all day long.  2-4 with a HR and 3 RBI’s is not a reach for Longo today at home.

Raja Davis- OF DETROIT - $5,200

Davis and Detroit will get to see if Phil Hughes can live up to his pre-draft rankings today.  I personally, am not a believer in Hughes, but I am a believer in The tigers offense.  Detroits 1-6 hitters are SCARY to look at.  Davis will lead off today and is a HUGE stolen base threat when he gets to first.  I don’t care if he gets hit by pitch 4 times and lets the 2 through 6 hitters drive him in.  I think Hughes is in for a long day, and I think Detroits scores 8 runs today, in that situation, I will almost always take the guy that is guaranteed the most plate apperances.

We have games contests starting at 1:00 and another slate starting at 3:00 pm for those who didn’t make it into the early slate.  Freerolls, big guarantees, 50/50’s and head to heads.  Start the 2015 MLB season of with $$ and bragging rights.    www.Draftdemons.com

TONIGHTS TOP NBA VALUE PLAYS                           4/3/15

Omri Casspi – SF- Kings -   $7,200

Rudy Gay is OUT with a concussion, and Casspi will start at SF tonight.  In the role on Wednesday night, Omri went 18 pts, 3 steals, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds in 37 minutes.   Other than coming off a monster game, I love his matchup tonight, he will square off against Quincy Poindexter.  Other than having probably the most embarrassing name in the NBA, Poindexter also stinks on D.  Vegas has The Kings scoring 101 points tonight and Cousins can only do so much, so I suspect Casspi will have the second best stat line on the squad.  Ray McCallum JR at $8,900 might be a nice sneaky play as well……….

Anthony Tolliver- PF- Detroit - $5,900

Past 2 games Tolliver has averaged 11.5 points, 9 rebounds and 36 minutes of court time.  His usage % is up and he has attempted 12 three-pointers in that time frame.  Detroit plays Chicago tonight and will face off with Gasol.  Pau Gasol has been a really nice surprise for The Bulls this season but one fact remains:  The old man can’t D up.  Power Forwards have had success against Chicago this season, and I expect Tolliver to play a lot tonight.  If he can get you a double-double with a couple of 3’s sprinkled in there, he will be a huge value at $5,900.  The pistons are being a little cautious with Reggie Jackson as of late, and the less Jackson is on the floor, the more scoring opportunities Anthony should get

Dewayne Dedmon –C- Orlando- $5,600

Dewayne gets the start tonight against The Wolves.  We have two crappy teams, out of the playoff hunt, going head to head, to stay out of the title of “Worst team in the NBA”.  As bad as these two teams are, they are a lot of fun to watch, and some of these guys could have BIG nights, I like Elf Payton to flirt with a triple double, with three to five steals, but this is a VALUE article.  I’m not TOUCHING anyone on Minnesota not named Wiggins, and other than Payton, Vu has seen his fantasy scores drop the past couple of weeks.  The Magic have nothing to lose so they might let Dedmon take over the center spot tonight for 25 minutes plus.  Vu now plays PF because Channing Frye is the most useless player in the NBA.  I think they want to see if this is the rotation they will roll with next year, and now’s the time to experiment.  IF Dedmon plays 25 minutes, IF he plays against Hamilton, and IF he can keep his ankle healthy, he MIGHT put up a 10 point, 10 rebound, 2 Blocks performance.  IF that happens, $5,600 is a STEAL!!
