TOP MLB DFS PLAYS for 8/3

Pitcher- Jesse Chavez

Chavez is not the most talented pitcher on the board tonight, but circumstances may make him the best play.  The Pirates/ Cubs game looks like the weather may destroy Liriano’s or Lester’s potential big nights.   Kluber has big K potential, but I don’t like going against Trout, Pujols, and Calhoun in this situation, one bad inning could ruin your shot at the money, and I’m just not loving the matchup.  Ross hasn’t been outstanding, I don’t like the park, and Braun and Lind could beat him up a bit.  I feel good about Chavez.  Baltimore strikes out a lot, and is not a good away team, and Chavez can get the strikeouts, and tends to be better at home.  I like him to get the win tonight, pitch 7 or 8 innings, get 7 or 8 strikeouts, and hold The O’s to 1 run.  I ‘ll take those numbers for a mid-priced guy any day of the week.

Catcher- Hank Conger

If you told me two months ago that I would recommend Conger as a good daily play, I would’ve slapped you in your face.  Things change in DFS, and you have to adapt, and ride the wave.  Last three games he has 6 hits, 2 Hr’s, and 6 RBI’s.  He faces off against Colby Lewis in a great hitters park in Arlington.  Lewis has given up 8 Home Runs in the past 6 games, and hopefully, Conger gets another one tonight.  Traditionally, Lewis does have GREAT numbers versus Houston, but this squad is so different from the ones he faced in the past, I’m going to dismiss his stellar record.

1st Base – Buster Posey

I love Posey tonight.  HE will be in Atlanta, to face off against Mike Foltynewicz.   Folty is a pretty bad pitcher, and Posey OWNS Righties this year.  Buster has a .338 with 12 Hr’s against right handed pitching, and this is setting up for a big night for him.

2nd Base/ 3rd Base/ SS – Anthony Rendon and Yunel Escobar

I like BOTH guys tonight, and pairing them both in my lineups.  Both are now starting to heat up and both are right handed hitters who hit Right handed pitching well.  The Nats get to see Rookie Zac Godley tonight who has a 2.25 era in two starts so far.  Small sample size, he isn’t that impressive, and in 25 plate appearances, righties have hit 2 home runs and near .300 against him.  Godley might get a serious beat down tonight, and a Nationals stack might be a nice sneaky play tonight.

OF- Adam Eaton

Eaton is on a fantasy TARE recently.  In case you missed it, the past 10 games Eaton has 20 hits, 14 runs,  3 doubles, 2 Hrs, and 5 Sb’s and zero CS.  That might be the past 10 game stretch by any baseball player this season.  Regardless, you have to put him in your lineup.  He will most likely leadoff against Nate Karns, and Tampa tonight in Chicago.  Karns is a decent SP, but isn’t great against lefties and gives up A LOT of stolen bases.  It’s not a huge over/under game tonight, but Vegas says The White Sox score 4, I’ll pencil in Eaton for at least two of them
